Recover your taxes, enjoy your passions

Christophe gets back €2,352. Stéphanie, €1,486. Find out how much you could recover on your Luxembourg tax return with taxx.lu.

You work. You pay your taxes. And every year, part of that money could come back to you.

Not someday. Not in theory. Now.

We're talking hundreds, sometimes thousands of euros. Enough for 13 new pairs of sneakers. 852 pieces of sushi. Or a one-way ticket to Bali.

Sounds too good to be true? These are real amounts that taxx.lu users got back. And they're not the only ones.

Three profiles. Three passions. Three very real refunds.

These aren't extreme cases. They're everyday situations in Luxembourg: a single employee, a single mother, a travel enthusiast. Each with simple, accessible deductions that a lot of people forget about.

Christophe gets back €2,352 (that's 13 pairs of sneakers)

Christophe is single. He earns €5,600 gross per month. No complicated tax situation. And yet, three deductions are enough to get him back over €2,300.

His refund breakdown

Car liability insurance: €610 declared → €254 recovered
Mortgage interest: €4,000 declared → €1,668 recovered
Home savings: €1,030 declared → €430 recovered
Total: €2,352

The biggest share comes from his mortgage interest. But even his car insurance, which he pays anyway, gets him €254 back. It's not extra money. It's money he was already spending that he simply gets back by declaring it.

Stéphanie gets back €1,486 (that's a trip to Bali)

Stéphanie is a single mother earning €6,100 gross per month. Her deductions are different from Christophe's, but just as simple.

Her refund breakdown

Supplementary health insurance: €1,100 declared → €459 recovered
Home savings: €600 declared → €250 recovered
Childcare costs: €1,864 declared → €777 recovered
Total: €1,486

Childcare costs alone make up more than half of her refund. If you have children in daycare, this is a deduction you can't afford to miss.

Lydia gets back €1,643 (that's 852 sushi)

Lydia is a single mother earning €5,300 gross per month. Her profile is different: no mortgage, no childcare. But other deductions pick up the slack.

Her refund breakdown

Pension insurance (art. 111bis): €2,400 declared → €1,001 recovered
Car liability insurance: €460 declared → €192 recovered
House cleaning costs: €1,080 declared → €450 recovered
Total: €1,643

Pension insurance does the heavy lifting here. It's the most powerful deduction for taxpayers without a mortgage. And cleaning costs? Yes, they're deductible. A lot of people have no idea.

Why do so many people miss out?

Because most people assume that if they don't have a complicated situation, filing a tax return won't get them anything. Or that they're not eligible. Or that it's too much effort for too little reward.

The three profiles above prove otherwise. No exceptional cases. No tax tricks. Just deductions available to most taxpayers in Luxembourg:

Car liability insurance, supplementary health insurance, mortgage interest, home savings, retirement savings (article 111bis), childcare costs... These are often expenses you're already paying for. You just need to declare them.

That's where the Opti-Score comes in

When you fill in your tax return on taxx.lu, the Opti-Score shows you exactly where you're leaving money on the table. A score of 100 means you've optimised everything. Below that, the platform tells you exactly which deductions you're missing and what you could do for next year.

How does it work on taxx.lu?

No need to be a tax expert. No need for an appointment. You answer the questions, enter your amounts, and the platform does the rest.

Your estimated refund updates in real time. Every deduction you add, you see the impact immediately. No surprises. No waiting six months to find out if it was worth it.

Your documents? AutoScan handles them. Import your certificates and statements as PDFs: the platform extracts the data and pre-fills your return. Not all documents are recognised by AutoScan yet, but the list keeps growing. If a document isn't supported, you simply fill in the fields manually.

Manual check required

Even when AutoScan recognises a document, every pre-filled amount must be verified manually before submitting your return.

Four packages, depending on your needs:

Standard at €69 covers the classic tax return. Plus at €119 adds a review of your tax assessment notice. Premium at €199 includes support from tax experts. And Platinum, from €290, is full hands-off mode: the taxx.lu team takes care of everything.

Need to declare rental income, capital gains on property, or fill in form 166? The annexes (forms 190, 700, and 166) are available at €59 each.

€2,352 is the average. Yours could be higher.
